This podcast was recorded in late February 2020 in Edinburgh with Ross McCulloch from Third Sector Lab. It’s relevant to all people interested in digital, how to embed it practically and culturally, and those after some good examples of what’s working – for example, Shelter’s chatbot. It is particularly relevant to Scottish charity folk as there are various references to what’s going on in Scotland that they might like to get involved in.
We cover digital transformation, culture, the Digital Leadership programme through SCVO and Digital Trustees. There’s a rant about online forms and an unplanned critique of funding for digital, plus top tips from Ross.
Key take-aways for me are:
- Digital expertise at Board level. If you don’t have digital expertise on your Board, this should be flagged on your risk register. Get in touch with Ross for more details on Digital Trustees in Scotland.
- Data. Make sure that you’re using data to inform your decision making. Ross mentions a couple of tools to help with this, even if you don’t have the cash to consolidate your database / Excel spreadsheets from across your organisation.
- Get on with it. There is a lot of free information available and tools that you can use to start your digital journey today. The Charity Digital Code of Practice and SCVO’s Digital Check-up to name a few.
Thanks so much for listening.
